Internacional (Marketwired, 23 de Agosto de 2013) Ceremony Celebrated Start of Construction on the Highly Anticipated Beachfront Resort on Hollywood Beach Construction of the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort has begun and the city and developer marked the occasion with a special groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, August 22nd at the Hollywood Beach Bandshell located at Johnson Street and the Broadwalk. The Jimmy Buffett-inspired resort showcases everything people already love about South Florida: sandy beaches, turquoise-blue waters and an escape from the everyday to a world filled with fun, adventure and relaxation.
"We are excited about getting the project started and look forward to the grand opening in 2015," said project developer Lon Tabatchnick. "This public-private partnership with the City of Hollywood has created a new vision for Hollywood Beach, and Margaritaville is the perfect resort for this location. We know this destination will be enjoyed for years to come by both tourists and locals."
Once complete, the 845,000-square-foot Margaritaville Hollywood Beach will have 349 specialty suites and luxurious rooms. Amenity highlights include ocean-side pools, a FlowRider wave ride, spa and fitness center along with 35,000 square feet of convention space. The Margaritaville Restaurant Bar and retail addition will provide guests with the ultimate tropical experience complete with salty margaritas, island-inspired food and lively entertainment. The property will boast a total of seven restaurants and bars throughout the resort. In addition, there will be a public parking garage with 600 spaces.
"We are all thrilled to bring Margaritaville to the shores of Hollywood Beach," said Margaritaville CEO John Cohlan. "We would like to thank the local community and public officials for their support, patience and vision."
In the summer of 2009, the City of Hollywood, Florida sought development proposals for this six-acre parcel of prime beach-front real estate at Johnson Street and A1A. The following year, the commission chose Tabatchnick's Margaritaville plan for its uniqueness and potential to transform the beach.
"The Margaritaville project represents a significant investment on Hollywood Beach that has captivated the imaginations of both residents and businesses alike," said Hollywood Mayor Peter Bober. "The project will act as a catalyst in spurring redevelopment along the beach. Most critically, it will pump tens of millions of dollars directly into the city's coffers which can be used to enhance neighborhoods throughout the entire city."
The Hollywood Beach Bandshell, which is located adjacent to the resort and is a popular spot for local entertainment and cultural events, will also undergo a facelift, including new seating and upgraded audio-visual capabilities. Once complete, Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort will take over programming, working in conjunction with the City of Hollywood Parks and Recreation Department, to provide an expanded array of free entertainment for the public and resort guests to enjoy.
Coral Hospitality, based in Naples, Florida, will professionally manage the property. A joint venture between Coastal Construction and Tishman Construction, an AECOM company, will manage construction of the resort.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, the development team, the mayor and city leaders spoke briefly about the future plans for the resort and thanked the community for its support.
