The event is free to all residents and will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Credit Union's Nanuet branch. "According to Javelin Strategy & Research, nearly 12 million Americans were victims of identity theft in 2012," explained Mark Welshoff, President & CEO of Palisades Federal Credit Union. With such growing prevalence, it is vital to be consciously aware of the threat and take proactive measures such as shredding personal and confidential information to protect against identity theft. The NY Credit Union, founders of this annual event, is inviting any individual who lives, works, worships or volunteers in Rockland County to participate in this year's festivities by safely shredding documents that contain personal identifying information such as, social security numbers, account information, addresses, and telephone numbers.

Free for all personal documents — Non-Member Businesses may only shred up to 10lbs
The Shred trucks will be in front of the Credit Union's Nanuet branch during the event. Individuals who participate will watch their documents being shredded and have a chance to win a $50 American Express Gift Card. Anyone who opens a paper-less checking account with direct deposit during the event will get an additional $100 bonus deposited into their new account.
